Motorcyclist Critically Injured After Falling into 3-Meter Deep Trench in Phetchaburi
A 41-year-old man sustained serious injuries after his motorcycle plunged into an unmarked, deep utility trench in Phetchaburi province.
On the evening of August 21, 2026, a 41-year-old man identified as Chitphong was critically injured after his motorcycle fell into a 3-meter deep trench being excavated for water pipe installation. The incident occurred in front of the Ban Mo Subdistrict Cultural Center in Phetchaburi province.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, witnesses reported that the area was poorly lit and lacked clear warning signage, which contributed to the rider losing control and plunging into the excavation. Emergency responders from the Ban Mo Subdistrict Municipality and the Sawang Sanphet Thammasathan Foundation faced significant challenges during the rescue due to the narrow, muddy, and deep nature of the site. It took approximately 15 minutes to extract the victim, who suffered from multiple wounds and a deformed leg, before he was transported to Phra Chom Klao Hospital for urgent treatment.
For residents and travelers in the area, this incident highlights the potential dangers posed by ongoing infrastructure projects, particularly at night. The lack of adequate lighting and warning markers remains a significant safety concern.
