Residents Report Foul-Smelling Black Water Near Prachin Buri Factory
Villagers in Kabin Buri district have raised concerns over a 30-meter stretch of stagnant, foul-smelling black water discovered near an electronics smelting facility.
On August 21, 2026, residents in the border area between Bo Thong and Mueang Kao sub-districts in Prachin Buri province reported the discovery of a pool of black, malodorous water in a field ditch. According to Khaosod Online, the affected area measures approximately one meter deep and 30 meters long, situated adjacent to an electronics smelting plant.
Local resident Boon Naewsee expressed concern that the water might be industrial waste originating from the nearby facility, though he noted that the exact source remains unconfirmed. Villagers are particularly worried that the contaminated water could seep into a nearby public reservoir, which serves as the primary source for the village's tap water supply. Village headman Witthawat Suicharoen stated that this is the first time such an incident has been reported in the area.
For residents and visitors in the vicinity, this situation highlights potential environmental concerns regarding local water quality.
