On August 21, 2026, a joint task force led by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the Department of Provincial Administration, and the Royal Thai Police executed search warrants at three locations in Pattaya, Chonburi province. According to Khaosod Online, the operation was overseen by the Minister of Justice and the Deputy Minister of Interior to address concerns regarding the use of Thai nationals as 'nominees' to circumvent the Foreign Business Act of 1999.
Authorities stated that the raids are part of a broader government initiative to regulate business practices and curb illegal activities involving foreign entities holding land and operating businesses through local proxies. Officials emphasized that these practices negatively impact the national economy and public order.
