Police Trainee Faces Charges After Vehicle Theft and High-Speed Incident
A 25-year-old police trainee has been arrested and charged following the theft of a pickup truck in Phichit province, which resulted in a high-speed chase and a serious injury to an officer.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 21, 2026, a 25-year-old police trainee stationed at Nong Sano Police Station in Phichit province is facing two serious criminal charges. The individual allegedly stole a pickup truck from a 66-year-old man by falsely claiming he needed the vehicle to pursue a criminal. The victim initially complied, believing he was assisting law enforcement, before the trainee fled and broke through a police checkpoint.
Following his arrest, the trainee was charged with theft and resisting or obstructing an officer in the performance of their duties. He has since been remanded to the Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Court. During the apprehension, Police Lance Corporal Papawichchanaporn Jansorn sustained a brain hemorrhage due to a ruptured blood vessel during the struggle with the suspect. He is currently receiving emergency medical treatment at a private hospital in Nakhon Sawan. The officer’s father, Police Colonel Anek Jansorn, has stated that the legal proceedings will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
