Thailand and Cambodia Conduct Cross-Border Repatriation of Citizens
Thai and Cambodian authorities have facilitated the return of 44 Thai nationals and 35 Cambodian nationals following the completion of legal proceedings in their respective countries.
On August 21, 2026, Thai security forces, including the Burapha Task Force and Sa Kaeo Immigration, coordinated a repatriation exchange at the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge in Aranyaprathet, Sa Kaeo province. According to Khaosod Online, 44 Thai citizens were returned to Thailand after completing legal processes in Cambodia, while 35 Cambodian nationals were simultaneously returned to their home country after finishing legal proceedings in Thailand.
This exchange was conducted under humanitarian principles and established bilateral cooperation protocols. Despite the ongoing closure of the border checkpoint, both nations continue to coordinate the return of individuals who have concluded their legal cases.
