Deputy Transport Minister Urges Progress on Nakhon Ratchasima Rail Projects

On August 21, 2026, Deputy Minister of Transport Siriphong Angkasakulkiat visited Nakhon Ratchasima Railway Station to assess the status of major rail developments. The inspection focused on the first phase of the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project connecting Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima, as well as the double-track rail project between Map Kabao and Thanon Chira Junction.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister met with local officials, including Nakhon Ratchasima MP Watcharapon Tomornsak and provincial representatives, to discuss ongoing challenges and project delays. Siriphong emphasized the need to resolve these bottlenecks to ensure the projects meet their established completion targets. He noted that the recent opening of the M6 motorway has already significantly improved travel efficiency between Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima, and he aims to replicate this progress within the rail sector.

For residents and travelers, these projects are critical for future connectivity between the capital and the Northeast. While the M6 motorway currently offers a faster alternative for road transport, the completion of these rail lines is expected to provide a more robust public transit network. At this stage, specific revised completion dates for the delayed rail segments have not been finalized, and stakeholders are awaiting further updates on the resolution of the identified construction obstacles.
