Indian Farmer Recovers Buried Savings After One Year

According to a report by Khaosod Online, a farmer named Mangilal Meghwal from Pachpadra, Rajasthan, India, faced an unusual financial ordeal. One year ago, after selling a plot of land for 500,000 rupees (approximately 170,000 Thai Baht), he sought to protect the funds from potential theft. Fearing the money might be stolen or misused, he placed the cash in a plastic bag and buried it in his field under the cover of darkness.

When he eventually needed the funds, he realized he could not recall the exact burial site. Despite days of searching, the money remained lost until recent heavy rainfall prompted the family to use a tractor to level the soil for agricultural preparation. During this process, they unearthed the plastic bag. Unfortunately, the banknotes were found in a severely damaged condition.

For residents and travelers, this story serves as a reminder of the risks associated with unconventional cash storage. While this incident occurred in India, it highlights the importance of utilizing formal banking systems rather than relying on physical concealment.
