Former MP Candidate Investigated for Alleged 2.35 Million Baht Recruitment Scam

According to a report by Khaosod Online, police at Uthumphon Phisai Station in Sisaket province are investigating a former parliamentary candidate accused of orchestrating a recruitment scam. The suspect allegedly claimed to have the influence to secure government positions within local administrative organizations for the victims' relatives.

Victims reported paying a total of 2,350,000 baht to the suspect to facilitate the hiring of five family members. However, the promised employment never materialized. Police Colonel Nilkan Phonsak, the station superintendent, stated that investigators are currently gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses, with the process expected to conclude next week.

For residents and expatriates, this case serves as a reminder of the importance of verifying official recruitment channels, as government positions in Thailand are strictly regulated and cannot be purchased through private intermediaries. While the suspect’s political background has drawn public attention, authorities have emphasized that the investigation will proceed without bias.
