On August 21, 2026, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) issued an urgent flood warning for the Mae Sot and Mae Ramat districts of Tak province. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the Moei River has exceeded its banks by 0.9 meters at the first Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge. Water levels are reported to be rising continuously, exacerbated by ongoing heavy rainfall in the region.
Authorities have advised residents living along the river—specifically in the sub-districts of Mae Pa, Mae Ku, Maha Wan, Tha Sai Luat, Mae Tao, Mae Kasa, Nakhon Mae Sot, and Phra That Pha Daeng in Mae Sot, as well as Mae Charao in Mae Ramat—to immediately move belongings to higher ground and relocate vehicles. Officials have also emphasized the need to prioritize the evacuation of vulnerable individuals. Those requiring assistance are instructed to contact local village heads or municipal authorities.
