Thailand Sees Significant Growth in Intellectual Property Registrations
The Department of Intellectual Property reports a 7.54% increase in registrations during the first seven months of 2026, driven by a surge in petty patents and copyright filings.
According to a report from Prachachat Business, Thailand’s Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) has observed a robust increase in intellectual property (IP) activity during the first seven months of 2026. Data indicates that there were 45,916 total IP applications filed, representing a 7.48% increase compared to the previous period. Furthermore, the total number of successful registrations reached 34,141, marking a 7.54% rise.
One of the most notable trends highlighted by the DIP is the 39.16% surge in petty patent registrations, with Thai universities emerging as the primary drivers of this growth. Additionally, copyright notifications saw a substantial increase of 47.86%.
