Ministry of Digital Economy Adjusts AI-Pass Platform Following Security Concerns
Thailand's Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has announced a domain change for the TH-AI Passport project following public feedback regarding security.
On August 21, 2026, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) held a press conference to address the progress of the TH-AI Passport project. Permanent Secretary Phachara Anantasilp acknowledged public concerns regarding the platform's security and apologized for the initial oversight. Consequently, the ministry has ordered a transition for the AI-Pass system to utilize the '.go.th' domain, which is reserved for government entities, to enhance trust and security.
The TH-AI Passport, which opened for pre-registration on August 19, 2026, has already seen 1,127,664 individuals sign up. According to Khaosod Online, the system is scheduled to become fully operational on August 31, 2026.
For residents and travelers, this change is significant as it aims to verify the authenticity of the digital platform, helping users distinguish official government services from potential unauthorized sites. While the domain migration is underway, users should remain vigilant regarding official communications.
