Update on Thailand's Motorway Rest Area Bids
PTTRM is the sole bidder for the M6 motorway rest area project, while the M81 tender received no interest, prompting a review of terms.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Thai Ministry of Transport has provided an update on the bidding process for rest areas on two new motorway routes. PTTRM, a subsidiary of OR (PTT Oil and Retail Business), has emerged as the sole bidder for the M6 motorway project connecting Bang Pa-in and Korat. Officials expect the contract for this project to be signed by February 2026, with full operations anticipated to commence in 2029.
Conversely, the tender for rest areas on the M81 motorway, which links Bang Yai and Kanchanaburi, failed to attract any private sector interest. Consequently, the Ministry of Transport is currently reviewing the bidding conditions to make the project more attractive to potential investors.
