Thai Health Promotion Foundation Partners with Community Hospitals to Reduce NCDs

The Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) is aligning with the Ministry of Public Health to focus on preventative care and lifestyle changes to combat non-communicable diseases.

According to a report by Khaosod Online on August 21, 2026, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) has announced a collaborative initiative with community hospitals across Thailand. This move follows a directive from the Minister of Public Health, Phatthana Phomphat, aimed at strengthening primary healthcare services.

Dr. Pongthep Wongwatcharapaiboon, manager of ThaiHealth, confirmed that the organization is working with the Community Hospital Directors Association of Thailand to promote healthier lifestyles. The primary objective is to reduce the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which currently account for 74% of all deaths in Thailand. The initiative focuses on encouraging physical activity, improving nutritional habits, and reducing the consumption of alcohol and tobacco.

For residents and long-term visitors, this partnership signifies a shift toward community-based health management. By utilizing data-driven approaches tailored to specific local contexts, the initiative aims to lower the burden on the healthcare system and improve overall life expectancy. While the collaboration is officially underway, the specific timeline for the rollout of new local health programs and the measurable impact on hospital service capacity remain to be confirmed. Residents are encouraged to monitor local health announcements for potential changes in community wellness services.
