SGC Announces Sale of 1.3 Billion Baht Loan Portfolio

SG Capital (SGC), a subsidiary of JMART, has approved the sale of its 'Rod Tam Ngern' loan portfolio worth 1.3 billion baht to address accumulated losses.

According to a report by Prachachat Business on August 21, 2026, SG Capital Public Company Limited (SGC), a member of the JMART group, has officially notified the Stock Exchange of Thailand regarding a board resolution to divest its 'Rod Tam Ngern' (car-for-cash) loan portfolio. The transaction is valued at 1.3 billion baht.

In addition to the portfolio sale, the company plans to propose to its shareholders the transfer of over 209 million baht from its legal reserve to offset accumulated losses. This strategic move is intended to restructure the company's financial position.

For residents and expatriates in Thailand, this development highlights ongoing shifts within the local non-bank financial sector, which often influences the availability of consumer credit and vehicle-backed financing. While the board has approved these measures, the final execution of the portfolio sale and the formal approval from shareholders regarding the reserve transfer remain to be confirmed. Investors and those monitoring the Thai financial market should watch for upcoming shareholder meeting outcomes to see how these plans are finalized.
