Parliamentary Committee Seeks Remedies for Local Government Officials Affected by Exam Quota Issues
A House committee is working to assist local government officials who lost their preferred placement due to a 5,925-person quota displacement following the 2025 civil service examination.
On August 20, 2026, the House Committee on Decentralization, Local Government, and Special Administrative Forms held a meeting at the Thai Parliament to address the rights of local government officials. Chaired by Kongkrit Chatmalirat, the committee discussed the situation of officials who were legitimately appointed but lost their preferred work locations after 5,925 individuals were added to the quota following the 2025 local government competitive examination.
During the session, Deputy Minister of Interior Worasit Liangprasert and representatives from the Department of Local Administration (DLA), along with three major local government associations, reviewed the impact on those not involved in examination irregularities. The committee is exploring options to allow these affected officials to select their preferred work areas as a form of remedy, potentially through a special resolution from the Central Committee.
