A local government official is seeking the return of over 500,000 THB after discovering his partner was already married, leading to a public dispute over dowry repayment.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, a local government official known as 'Khun Tae' has publicly sought justice after discovering that his partner of two months, 'Nong Nam,' was already married. Khun Tae alleges he was deceived into transferring over 500,000 THB, including a 300,000 THB dowry, before learning that Nong Nam had recently registered a marriage with a naval officer.
Nong Nam initially claimed she was separated from her husband and refused to return the full amount, arguing that they had lived together. Following an appearance on the 'Hone-Krasae' television program, she eventually agreed to return 350,000 THB. However, a scheduled meeting on August 19 to finalize the repayment at a police station did not proceed as planned. Nong Nam stated that she had sent her parents to negotiate on her behalf, citing current financial difficulties and an inability to pay the full amount immediately. She noted that she would leave the legal consequences to Khun Tae if he chooses to pursue further action.
