HYROX Fitness Racing Aims for Olympic Inclusion by 2032

The global fitness racing phenomenon HYROX is setting its sights on the Olympic stage, with executives targeting inclusion in the 2032 or 2036 Games.

According to a report by Khaosod Online, HYROX executives are actively working to have the fitness racing event recognized as an Olympic sport. The competition, which has seen explosive growth since its inception, has evolved from a small event with roughly 650 participants into a global movement involving over 1 million athletes worldwide.

Deepak Raji, an executive for HYROX India, noted that the sport is currently held in over 35 countries and 100 cities. During the recent World Championships in Stockholm, athletes from 101 nations participated, underscoring the event's international reach. Raji stated that participation numbers are continuing to climb, with projections suggesting figures could reach 1.5 million participants at various points this year.

For residents and travelers in Thailand, this development highlights the increasing professionalization of fitness racing. As the sport gains global momentum, enthusiasts may see more standardized events and increased visibility for the discipline locally. However, while the ambition to join the Olympic program is clear, it remains to be confirmed whether the International Olympic Committee will accept HYROX for the 2032 or 2036 Games. The path to Olympic status involves rigorous evaluation, and no formal timeline for inclusion has been established by governing bodies.
