Thai Government Proposes Using 'AI Nok Krasib' Sales Data for Small Business Loans
Deputy Prime Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas is working with the Government Savings Bank to allow small merchants to use AI-generated sales data from the 'Thung Ngern' app to support loan applications.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 20, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas has announced a new initiative to assist small-scale merchants in accessing formal credit. The proposal involves utilizing sales data generated by the 'AI Nok Krasib' (Whispering Bird AI) feature within the 'Thung Ngern' application as supporting documentation for loan applications at the Government Savings Bank (GSB).
Mr. Ekniti stated that he has already discussed the framework with GSB Director Songpol Chevapanyaroj, who has been tasked with developing the necessary procedures. The loans will be sourced directly from the GSB’s own credit facilities, distinct from the government’s 400-billion-baht energy transition loan fund. The government aims to promote the use of the AI feature, which currently helps merchants track daily and monthly sales, analyze business performance, and manage store operations more effectively.
For residents and small business owners in Thailand, this development could simplify the process of proving income for those who operate primarily through digital platforms. However, specific details regarding interest rates, eligibility criteria, and the official launch date for this loan program remain to be confirmed by the Government Savings Bank.
