GISTDA Releases Flood Simulation Maps for Nan Province
Thailand's space agency has published flood risk models for Nan city as water levels at the N.1 monitoring station exceed critical thresholds.
On August 20, 2026, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) released simulation maps illustrating potential flood impacts in the Mueang Nan district of Nan province. This data serves as a preliminary tool for authorities to assess and monitor the ongoing flood situation.
The models are based on a scenario where water levels at the N.1 monitoring station, located in front of the Forestry Office in Nai Wiang sub-district, reach 201.50 meters above mean sea level. According to GISTDA, as of 10:00 PM on August 19, the water level at this station had already surpassed the 200-meter mark.
The simulation uses a color-coded system to indicate potential flood depths: light blue represents depths of less than 0.5 to 1 meter, while shades of blue to dark blue indicate depths ranging from 1 to 3 meters.
For residents and travelers in the area, these maps provide a visual guide to high-risk zones. However, it is important to note that these are predictive models based on specific water level scenarios.
