Thailand's NBTC Faces Ongoing Meeting Disruptions
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has failed to hold a single meeting throughout August 2026 due to a lack of a quorum.
According to a report by Matichon Online, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has been unable to conduct any official meetings during the month of August 2026. The sessions have repeatedly collapsed because the required number of commissioners failed to attend, preventing a quorum from being established.
Three commissioners have reportedly stated their intention to participate only in meetings that they deem to be conducted in accordance with the law, which has contributed to the ongoing deadlock. As the NBTC is the primary regulatory body for telecommunications and broadcasting in Thailand, this administrative paralysis could potentially impact the oversight of digital services, spectrum management, and consumer protection policies.
