Government Savings Bank Expands EV Loan Program by 5 Billion Baht
Thailand's Government Savings Bank (GSB) has allocated an additional 5 billion baht for electric vehicle loans following the exhaustion of its previous soft loan quota.
According to a report by Prachachat Business on August 20, 2026, the Government Savings Bank (GSB) has officially increased its lending capacity for electric vehicle (EV) purchases by 5 billion baht. This decision follows the full utilization of the bank's previous soft loan allocation for the same purpose.
For residents and potential buyers in Thailand, this expansion provides renewed access to financing options for those looking to transition to electric mobility. As the adoption of EVs continues to grow within the country, such financial support from state-backed institutions remains a key factor in market accessibility.
While the EV loan program has been bolstered, the bank also addressed the status of its proposed solar rooftop loan initiative. GSB Director Vitai Ratanakorn (referenced in the report as Songpol Chevapanyaroj) indicated that the details regarding the solar rooftop project are still under review and await a final conclusion. Consequently, those interested in financing residential solar installations will need to wait for further official announcements from the bank. As of now, no specific timeline has been provided for when the solar rooftop loan terms will be finalized or launched.
