DITP and FTI Collaborate to Boost Thai SMEs in Global Markets

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) are partnering to expand support for Thai SMEs, focusing on market entry into China and addressing export challenges in India.

According to a report by Prachachat Business on August 20, 2026, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) is strengthening its cooperation with the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) to enhance the global competitiveness of Thai small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The initiative aims to provide SMEs with essential knowledge, facilitate access to international markets, and resolve ongoing trade barriers.

Key aspects of this collaboration include the development of the fifth phase of the 'SMEs Pro-active' project. Furthermore, the organizations are considering the creation of specialized training programs, specifically the 'Go China' and 'China Survival Program,' designed to help Thai businesses navigate the complexities of the Chinese market. The partnership also seeks to address specific logistical and regulatory hurdles currently impacting exports to India.

For residents and expatriates in Thailand, this initiative may signal a shift in the availability of local products and services as businesses scale their operations internationally. While the focus is on export growth, the strengthening of the SME sector could influence local supply chains and the broader economic landscape. It remains to be confirmed how these training programs will be structured and when the specific support measures for the Indian market will be fully implemented.
