Jomtien Neighborhood Dispute Over Excessive Dog Ownership
A resident in Jomtien, Pattaya, has sought media and official intervention following a long-standing noise disturbance caused by a neighbor keeping over 20 dogs.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 20, 2026, a 72-year-old resident named Rewat has filed a formal complaint regarding a neighbor in a Jomtien, Pattaya housing estate. The dispute centers on the neighbor, a 60-year-old woman identified as 'Auntie Jum,' who reportedly keeps more than 20 dogs on her property.
Rewat claims that the constant barking and howling of the animals have caused significant noise pollution and distress throughout the neighborhood. He stated that previous attempts to resolve the issue through polite communication were met with verbal hostility from the dog owner, who allegedly justified her actions by claiming seniority in the neighborhood and asserting that she had already constructed a separate residence for the dogs, though she has yet to relocate them.
In response to the public complaint, Anekrit Boonjerm, an assistant administrative officer, led a team to inspect the site. While the authorities have begun their assessment, the situation remains tense. For residents and travelers in the area, such disputes highlight the importance of local noise ordinances and community living standards. It remains to be confirmed what specific enforcement actions, if any, the Pattaya City authorities will take to mitigate the noise disturbance and ensure compliance with local housing regulations.
