On the night of August 19, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Yotchanan Wongsawat, conducted an emergency inspection of flood-affected areas in Nan province. According to Khaosod Online, the official visited the Nan municipal market area, where rapidly rising water levels necessitated the precautionary cutting of electricity to ensure public safety.
During his inspection of three high-risk locations—including the N.1 water monitoring station and the Kad Sri Kham area—the Deputy PM coordinated with rescue teams and local authorities. The visit included a direct response to emergency requests from residents trapped in their homes, prompting immediate rescue operations. Yotchanan has ordered the establishment of a 24-hour war room to monitor the situation and prioritize the evacuation of vulnerable individuals, such as bedridden patients still trapped in flooded residences.
