Elderly Couple Injured in Single-Vehicle Accident in Phatthalung
A 74-year-old couple traveling to a medical appointment was injured after their car crashed into a road median in Phatthalung province.
On the morning of August 20, 2026, a 74-year-old man and his wife were involved in a serious traffic accident on the Asia Highway in the Tha Khae sub-district of Phatthalung province. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the couple was traveling from Trang province to attend a scheduled medical appointment when their Honda sedan lost control, struck the road median, and overturned. The vehicle slid approximately 50 meters before coming to a rest upside down.
Local emergency responders and residents assisted in extracting the couple from the wreckage. Both individuals were transported to Phatthalung Hospital. The driver, identified as 74-year-old Mr. Jam, sustained bruising and body aches but remained conscious and communicative. His wife also sustained injuries during the incident.
For travelers and residents, this incident highlights the risks associated with the Asia Highway, particularly near the Tha Khae area. A local village head noted that this specific stretch of road is a frequent site for accidents.
