Thai Health Promotion Foundation Partners with Universities to Promote Risk-Free Campuses

A new initiative involving the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and eight educational institutions aims to reduce youth risk behaviors through sports and discipline.

On August 20, 2026, Matichon Online reported that the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and the Stop Drink Network (SDN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with eight educational institutions. The partnership is designed to establish campuses free from risk factors, focusing on the well-being of children and youth in an environment increasingly filled with external distractions.

According to the report, data indicates that 90.5% of students believe that participating in sports effectively helps reduce risky behaviors. Furthermore, 69.6% of the surveyed youth reported that sports engagement has contributed to an increase in their personal discipline.

For residents and long-term visitors, this initiative highlights a growing national emphasis on youth development and the promotion of healthy, structured extracurricular activities within the Thai education system. While the MOU establishes a framework for cooperation, the specific long-term implementation strategies and the full list of participating institutions remain to be confirmed. This development reflects a broader societal effort to mitigate youth exposure to harmful substances and behaviors by fostering supportive academic environments.
