Two Suspects Arrested in Laos Following Chiang Khong Gold Shop Robbery
Lao authorities have apprehended two men in Bokeo Province suspected of robbing a gold shop in Chiang Rai’s Chiang Khong district earlier this month.

The arrests are linked to an armed robbery that occurred on August 4, 2026, at a Yaowarat Bangkok gold shop located inside a shopping mall in the Chiang Khong district of Chiang Rai, Thailand.
According to reports, the two suspects allegedly used handguns to steal five trays of gold before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle, which was later discovered abandoned near the Mekong River. Thai authorities had previously coordinated with their counterparts in the Lao PDR to track the individuals across the border. During the operation in Bokeo, Lao officials seized firearms from the suspects and have taken them into custody for further interrogation.
