On August 19, 2026, Khaosod Online reported that a two-year-old female Siberian Husky named 'Poly' was rescued from a home in Songkhla, Thailand, where she had been left unattended for approximately three months. Neighbors had been providing minimal food and water through a fence, noting that the dog frequently howled at night due to loneliness and stress.
The rescue operation was conducted by 'The Hope Songkhla,' an animal welfare organization, in coordination with Songkhla City Municipality public health officials and local police. Following negotiations with the owner’s father, the dog was surrendered to the organization for medical care, including vaccinations, sterilization, and grooming to remove matted fur.
