Man Detained After Disturbing Khon Kaen Temple
A 52-year-old man was arrested for trespassing and drunk driving at Wat Pa Adulyaram after causing a disturbance linked to a local social media controversy.
On August 19, 2026, police in Khon Kaen detained a 52-year-old man, identified as Mr. Bandit, following a series of disturbances at Wat Pa Adulyaram. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the suspect entered the temple grounds on a motorcycle late on the night of August 18, reportedly searching for individuals who had filmed a group known as 'Pa Da' blocking the temple entrance with concrete pipes.
Mr. Bandit returned to the temple the following evening, where he confronted monks and temple staff near the abbot's residence. Upon his detention, officers noted a strong smell of alcohol. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content of 264 mg/dL, leading to charges of driving under the influence. Drug tests returned negative results. During questioning, the suspect claimed he acted independently out of personal admiration for 'Pa Da' and denied being instructed by anyone else.
