New M6 Motorway Section Opens for Weekend Travel
Thailand’s Ministry of Labour has announced that the M6 motorway section between Bang Pa-in and Pak Chong will open for free weekend travel starting August 21, 2026.
According to the Thailand Government Public Relations Department, Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has inspected the readiness of the M6 motorway segment connecting Bang Pa-in to Pak Chong. This new route is designed to improve connectivity to the northeastern region of Thailand, with the government aiming to stimulate both the local economy and tourism.
Starting at noon on August 21, 2026, motorists will be permitted to use this section of the motorway free of charge every weekend. The initiative is intended to provide a more convenient and safer travel experience for those heading toward the Isan region. Officials have emphasized that safety and convenience are top priorities during this trial period.
For travelers and residents, this development offers a faster alternative to existing routes, potentially reducing congestion during peak weekend travel times. While this segment is now ready for public use, it is important to note that the full length of the M6 motorway is currently scheduled to be opened for free, permanent use by the beginning of 2027.
