Department of Internal Trade Mobilizes Flood Relief for Nan Province
The Thai Ministry of Commerce is coordinating with private manufacturers to supply essential goods to flood-affected areas in Nan province following heavy rainfall in Northern Thailand.
Following severe rainfall in Northern Thailand, which has triggered flash floods and forest runoff, the Department of Internal Trade (DIT) under the Ministry of Commerce has launched an emergency relief initiative. According to Khaosod Online, DIT Director-General Wattanayak Maneenetr stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supachai Suthamphan has ordered the immediate preparation of essential consumer goods to assist residents in affected areas, specifically noting the impact on Pua District in Nan province.
The DIT is currently coordinating with manufacturers, private enterprises, and provincial commerce offices to collect and distribute food, drinking water, and other daily necessities. The department is actively monitoring the situation and surveying the specific needs of local populations to ensure that aid is delivered efficiently.
For travelers and residents in Northern Thailand, this situation highlights the potential for localized infrastructure disruptions and supply chain delays due to flooding.
