Nick Kyrgios Provisionally Suspended Following Positive Drug Test

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has confirmed that 31-year-old Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios is serving a provisional suspension. The action follows a random drug test conducted during an ATP tournament in Mallorca this past June, which returned a positive result for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.

Cocaine is classified as a prohibited stimulant under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines. Consequently, Kyrgios has been barred from professional competition since August 4. Under the terms of this suspension, he is prohibited from playing, coaching, or participating in any events sanctioned by major tennis organizations, including the ATP, WTA, and Grand Slam bodies. Kyrgios, a former Wimbledon runner-up, has publicly acknowledged his actions, stating he made a "major mistake" and offering apologies to his family, fans, and sponsors.
