Flood Alert Issued for Nan Province as Water Levels Shift
Thai authorities have issued urgent warnings for residents in Nan province as floodwaters move downstream toward Tha Wang Pha, Mueang Nan, and Wiang Sa districts.
On August 19, 2026, the Thailand Government Public Relations Department reported that water levels in the Nam Pua area are currently receding. However, officials have issued a critical alert as this mass of water is now transitioning downstream toward the districts of Tha Wang Pha, Mueang Nan, and Wiang Sa. The water is ultimately expected to flow toward the Sirikit Dam.
In response to the potential flood risk, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has utilized the Cell Broadcast system to send advance warnings to the public in the affected areas.
