Severe Flooding in Nan Province Claims Two Lives
Flash floods in Nan Province, Thailand, have resulted in two fatalities and widespread disruption across Pua District.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 19, 2026, severe flooding has struck Pua District in Nan Province. The disaster has impacted 7 sub-districts and 60 villages, affecting approximately 8,000 households and over 16,000 residents.
Tragically, two fatalities have been confirmed. The first victim was a bedridden patient in Sila Phet sub-district who was swept away by flash floodwaters. The second victim, a man estimated to be between 45 and 50 years old, was discovered by the Phetkasem Foundation during evacuation operations.
For residents and travelers in the region, the situation remains critical. Authorities have issued a red alert for Tha Wang Pha District as water levels continue to rise, and emergency efforts are currently focused on preventing floodwaters from breaching Nan Hospital.
