Laotian National Arrested in Udon Thani Following Domestic Assault
A 34-year-old Laotian man has been taken into custody in Udon Thani after allegedly assaulting his wife during a domestic dispute.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, local authorities in Udon Thani have arrested a 34-year-old Laotian national following a violent incident on August 16, 2026. The suspect allegedly assaulted his 40-year-old Thai wife, identified as Ms. Karn, by dragging her into a pond after she reportedly struck him with a bottle during a social gathering.
The altercation occurred in the Dong Udom community while the couple was celebrating the husband’s recent lottery win. Witnesses stated that the dispute was triggered by the wife’s jealousy regarding her husband’s interactions with other women. Following the incident, Ms. Karn was discovered unconscious near a pond in the area.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Adisak Paso of the Udon Thani Immigration Office confirmed that the suspect was found to be in violation of his visa conditions. Authorities are currently processing the case, which includes charges related to physical assault and immigration violations. The suspect is expected to face deportation proceedings following the conclusion of the criminal investigation.
