Flood Alert Issued for Nan Province as Water Moves Downstream
Authorities have issued warnings for residents in Nan province as floodwaters from Pua district move toward the Sirikit Dam.
On August 19, 2026, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported that while water levels in Pua district have begun to recede, the accumulated volume is now moving downstream. According to Khaosod Online, the water is expected to flow through Tha Wang Pha district, Mueang Nan district, and Wiang Sa district before eventually reaching the Sirikit Dam in Uttaradit province.
Officials estimate that the water will take approximately 8 to 10 hours to travel from Pua to Wiang Sa. In response, the DDPM has utilized the Cell Broadcast system to issue advance warnings to residents in high-risk areas. Authorities are urging the public to move belongings to higher ground, relocate vehicles to safe areas, and assist vulnerable individuals in moving to temporary shelters.
