Parliamentary Committee Investigates Dispute at Wat Pa Adulyaram
A Thai parliamentary committee has visited Khon Kaen to address ongoing land and access disputes at Wat Pa Adulyaram, aiming to establish a national case study.
On August 19, 2026, a delegation from the House Committee on Religion, Art, and Culture, led by Chairwoman Thiwalrat Angkinant, visited Khon Kaen province to investigate a complex dispute involving Wat Pa Adulyaram. The committee met with provincial officials, the Deputy Provincial Ecclesiastical Governor, and representatives from the local land office and police to review issues regarding land title deeds, the obstruction of temple access, and allegations of unauthorized use of royal references.
According to Khaosod Online, the temple’s abbot, Phra Khru Adulsarnnithet, was unable to attend the meeting due to medical treatment and was represented by his legal counsel and temple trustees. The provincial Office of Buddhism highlighted the closure of the temple’s entrance as a primary concern, noting that police are currently handling the matter through legal channels. The committee intends to present their findings to the House of Representatives next week.
