An opposition advisor has called on the Thai government to switch the TH-AI Passport registration domain to a more secure '.co.th' address to prevent potential phishing risks.
On August 19, 2026, Nithikorn Boonyokulcharoen, an advisor to the Leader of the Opposition and member of the subcommittee on digital competitiveness, raised concerns regarding the government's 'TH-AI Passport' project. Speaking at the Parliament, he noted that the current registration site, 'de.aipass.net', uses a '.net' domain, which he argues is easily susceptible to imitation.
Nithikorn demonstrated the ease of creating look-alike domains by registering a similar address for a small fee, warning that malicious actors could potentially use such tactics to harvest personal data from unsuspecting citizens. He urged the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to transition the project to a '.co.th' domain, which offers stricter registration requirements, and to secure related domain names to prevent impersonation. Furthermore, he advised the public to remain vigilant and skeptical if the registration process requests excessive personal information.
