ONWR Issues Flood and Landslide Warning for 18 Provinces
The Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) has issued a warning for potential flash floods and landslides across 18 provinces from August 19–21, 2026.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) has alerted residents and travelers to monitor weather conditions closely between August 19 and August 21, 2026. The warning covers 18 provinces identified as being at risk for flash floods, waterlogging, forest runoff, and landslides.
This alert follows a monsoon trough currently passing through the northern and upper northeastern regions of Thailand. Notably, Nan province has recorded the highest rainfall, reaching 238 millimeters.
For those living in or traveling through these affected areas, the situation poses potential risks to transportation and outdoor activities due to the possibility of overflowing riverbanks and unstable terrain. While the ONWR has highlighted these specific risks, the agency also noted that 13 major reservoirs across the country currently hold low water levels, indicating a varied water management situation nationwide.
Travelers are advised to stay updated with local weather reports and follow instructions from provincial authorities. As of now, the full extent of the impact on infrastructure remains to be confirmed, and individuals should exercise caution when navigating mountainous or low-lying regions during this period.
