Chao Phraya Express Boat Announces Fare Increase
Starting August 21, 2026, the Chao Phraya Express Boat service will increase fares by 1 baht across all routes due to rising diesel costs.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Chao Phraya Express Boat company has officially announced a fare hike of 1 baht for all boat categories. This adjustment is scheduled to take effect on Friday, August 21, 2026.
Managing Director Charoenporn Charoentham stated that the decision follows a rise in diesel prices, which reached 37.59 baht per liter as of August 12, 2026. The service, which operates between Pak Kret Pier and Wat Rajsingkorn Pier, is implementing this change to offset the increased operational costs associated with fuel.
For residents and travelers who rely on the river transport system, this change means a slight increase in daily commuting expenses. For example, the popular orange flag boat service, which runs between Nonthaburi and Wat Rajsingkorn, will see its fare adjusted from the previous rate of 17 baht.
While the company has confirmed the implementation date and the specific amount of the increase, passengers are advised to check the updated fare charts at their local piers to confirm the exact new pricing for their specific routes. As of now, there has been no indication of further adjustments, though the company’s pricing remains sensitive to fluctuations in the national diesel market.
