Emergency Flood Response Initiated in Nan Province
Following heavy rainfall and flooding in Nan Province, Deputy Prime Minister Yodchanan Wongswasdi has been dispatched to oversee relief operations.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has issued an urgent directive from Canberra, Australia, for all relevant sectors to assist flood victims in Nan Province, which has officially been declared a disaster zone.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongswasdi, has redirected his schedule. After completing duties in Surat Thani, he is traveling to Nan to monitor the situation in Pua District. The area is currently experiencing significant tension due to heavy, accumulated rainfall and flash floods that have inundated homes and severed several local transportation routes. Authorities are prioritizing the urgent evacuation of vulnerable residents to designated safe shelters.
