Nan Municipality has issued its first flood warning after heavy rainfall caused flash floods in northern districts, urging residents to prepare for potential inundation.
On August 19, 2026, Nan Municipality issued its first official flood warning following intense rainfall exceeding 200 millimeters in several areas of Nan province, including Pua, Santi Suk, and Mae Charim districts. The heavy precipitation, which began at midnight, has caused flash floods and a significant rise in water levels in the Yao and Wa rivers.
For residents and travelers in the area, this situation poses a risk of flooding, particularly in communities that were affected by previous floods in 2006 and 2024.
