KTC Targets High-Income Earners and First Jobbers for Second-Half Growth

Krungthai Card (KTC) reports strong first-half growth and outlines a strategic focus on high-income individuals and young professionals for the remainder of 2026.

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Krungthai Card (KTC) has announced its strategic direction for the second half of 2026. Following a successful first half that saw a net profit of 4.397 billion baht—a 17.1% increase—the company aims to maintain momentum by targeting two specific demographics: individuals with monthly incomes of 50,000 baht or more and 'first jobbers' or young professionals.

KTC CEO Pitaya Vorapanyasakul stated during the 2Q2026 earnings call that while the overall economic landscape is expected to remain similar to the first half of the year, the company anticipates a seasonal rise in spending and credit demand, particularly in the final quarter. KTC reported that its credit card spending grew by 4.7% in the first half, outperforming the industry average of 2.7%, and its market share in card spending has risen to 13.3%.

For residents and travelers, this shift suggests a continued focus on digital financial services and insurance brokerage expansion by one of Thailand’s major credit providers. The company is also prioritizing the integration of new core systems to enhance operational efficiency and cybersecurity. While KTC remains confident in meeting its growth targets, the actual impact of these strategies on consumer credit availability and the broader economic environment remains to be seen as the year progresses.
