Armed Robbery Attempt Fails at Lampang Gold Shop
A suspect armed with a firearm failed to enter a gold shop in Lampang after finding the doors locked, fleeing the scene empty-handed.
On August 18, 2026, an attempted robbery occurred at a gold shop in the Hang Chat District of Lampang Province, Thailand. According to reports from Khaosod Online, a suspect arrived at the establishment on a Yamaha Fino motorcycle. The individual, dressed in a long-sleeved shirt, black trousers, and a full-face black helmet, was observed on CCTV footage approaching the shop while brandishing a firearm.
Upon reaching the entrance, the suspect attempted to push open the door, but was thwarted because the shop had been locked. Unable to gain entry, the individual immediately returned to their motorcycle and fled the scene. No property was stolen during the incident, and no injuries were reported.
Local authorities, led by Police Colonel Prapas Ubonsri, the Superintendent of Hang Chat Police Station, arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to track the suspect's escape route and have coordinated with the Mueang Lampang Police Station to establish checkpoints along potential exit paths. As of the latest update, the suspect remains at large. For residents and visitors in the area, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of security measures in local businesses.
