Thai Cabinet Approves New Reservoir Project in Chachoengsao

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Thai Cabinet has officially approved a budget of 2,854.74 million baht for the construction of the Ban Nong Krathing reservoir in Chachoengsao province. Deputy Government Spokesperson Captain Patdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn stated that the project will be managed by the Royal Irrigation Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

The construction is scheduled to take place over a six-year period, spanning from the 2027 to 2032 fiscal years. The primary objective of this infrastructure development is to increase water storage capacity by approximately 19 million cubic meters. This is expected to provide significant benefits to the local agricultural sector, covering roughly 10,000 rai during the rainy season and 3,000 rai during the dry season. Furthermore, the project aims to support the growing water demand within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).

For residents and those living in the region, this project represents a long-term effort to stabilize water supply for both consumption and farming. While the budget and timeline have been set, the specific details regarding land acquisition and the compensation process for affected landowners remain to be finalized as the project moves into its implementation phase. The government intends for this reservoir to serve as a critical component in regional water management planning.
