Investigation Underway Following Road Rage Incident in Bangkok
A mother and her infant were involved in a collision after a driver allegedly intentionally struck their motorcycle in the Phetkasem area.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, police have received a formal complaint regarding a road rage incident that occurred on August 14, 2026, near Phetkasem Soi 69 in Bangkok. A 25-year-old woman, who was riding on a motorcycle with her husband and their seven-month-old infant, reported that a white sedan suddenly swerved into their lane, nearly striking them.
Following a brief verbal altercation, the sedan driver allegedly tailgated the motorcycle and intentionally collided with the rear of the vehicle. The victim stated that she was holding her infant at the time of the impact. The driver of the sedan later claimed that the collision was an accident caused by mistakenly pressing the accelerator instead of the brake pedal.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the importance of maintaining awareness of aggressive driving behaviors in congested traffic areas. While the police have officially accepted the complaint, the investigation is ongoing. It remains to be confirmed whether the collision was a deliberate act of aggression or a mechanical/human error as claimed by the driver.
