Thai Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Alien Registration Network at Din Daeng Flats
The Ministry of Interior has launched the 'Sweeping the City' operation to dismantle a corruption network involved in the illegal registration of foreign nationals at the Din Daeng housing complex.
On August 18, 2026, Deputy Minister of Interior Worasit Leangprasert announced the results of the 'Sweeping the City' operation at the Din Daeng Police Station in Bangkok. This joint task force, involving the Department of Provincial Administration, the Royal Thai Police, the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, targeted a criminal network accused of fraudulently registering foreign nationals into the Din Daeng housing flats to obtain non-Thai identification cards, often referred to as 'pink cards.'
According to Khaosod Online, the government has ordered immediate disciplinary and criminal proceedings against officials found to be complicit in this scheme, including their removal from government service. The operation aims to protect the rights and interests of Thai citizens by curbing fraudulent registration practices.
For residents and visitors, this crackdown highlights ongoing efforts by the Thai government to tighten oversight of civil registration systems.
