On August 18, 2026, reports emerged from Wat Sa Ket in the Bo Yang sub-district of Songkhla regarding an act of vandalism within the temple's pagoda. According to Khaosod Online, a monk named Phra Atthachai discovered that a reclining Buddha statue had been desecrated. The perpetrator, identified by temple staff as a man in his 30s known as 'Nai Ne,' allegedly placed his underwear over the statue's head and urinated on the figure.
Evidence at the scene included a broken offering tray and signs of tampering with a donation box. The suspect reportedly holds a grudge against a monk at the temple who previously filed a police report that led to the suspect's imprisonment.
