Japan is finalizing preparations for the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, expecting 15,000 athletes, while Thailand confirms its team is fully prepared.
With exactly one month remaining until the 20th Asian Games, host nation Japan is entering the final stages of preparation. The event, scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4, 2026, in Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture, is expected to welcome over 15,000 athletes from across the continent. According to Khaosod Online, Japanese organizers have implemented unique accommodation solutions, including housing 4,000 to 5,000 athletes on ships, utilizing 571 available cabins.
For residents and travelers in the region, this massive influx of participants and the associated logistical arrangements will likely impact local traffic and public services in Nagoya during the competition period. Visitors should anticipate heightened activity and potential congestion in areas surrounding the venues.
Meanwhile, Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), has announced that the Thai national team is 100 percent prepared for the games. He confirmed that there are no issues regarding allowances for athletes or coaching staff. While the host nation’s readiness is high, specific details regarding the full operational capacity of the maritime accommodation and the final security protocols for the general public remain to be confirmed as the opening ceremony approaches.
