On August 18, 2026, Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Phancharoenworakul announced that the government is currently finalizing the conditions for the 'Thai Tiew Thai Plus' tourism stimulus project. According to reports from Khaosod Online, the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) briefed the Cabinet on the initiative, which is targeted for implementation by October 1, 2026.
The project aims to revitalize domestic tourism, which has recently experienced a slowdown. The initial phase of the program is expected to utilize a budget of 1.75 billion baht, with officials projecting an overall economic circulation of approximately 5 billion baht. The Ministry is working to complete the operational plans and budget allocation details by the end of September, following feedback from the hotel industry requesting an expedited launch.
